The New Groovement was originally formed in Victoria BC in Late 2011, as the Victoria Dream Team. After completing an initial EP, and a number of local gigs, the band decided that the abbreviated VDT didn't really convey the vibe of the band, so in 2012 they  re-emerged as The New Groovement. With their signature orange ties, they erupted on the scene with their full length album called "The Orange Album" in 2015, followed by the popular "Tired of Waiting" EP released in 2018.

Since then the band has had some roster changes and a LOT of shows, touring Western Canada, performing for festivals such as Jazz fest, Rifflandia, and Tall Tree, and even though they lost the ties, they have remained committed to bringing excellent funk, hip-hop fusion music to Western Canada.

"They're leaving a funk-infused collar-popping impression on the BC music festival circuit as well as reminding music lovers what it's like to have real instruments in a modern day chart topper"

Kelly Nakatsuka,

“There is little more fun and exciting around Victoria these days than getting sweaty and dancing your face off to the ripping-good tunes of The New Groovement. These guys bring it, every time they're on stage. And as a music programmer, I've always been grateful their recordings capture much of that great energy as well.”
